FREEDOM FROM PAIN CAMPAIGN in Tampa, FL area/July 2nd and July 3rd

Did you know that low back pain is one of the top 10 reasons patients seek care? Low back and leg pain can be associated with lumbar disc herniation, a condition where the gel-like center of the discs between the vertebrae pushes through a weakened area of the disc. From Jacksonville to Miami, Floridians are suffering from sciatica, leg, or back pain from a herniated lumbar disc. We’re inviting the media and adults between 30 and 70 years of age to join us for a pre-screening event.

This is a great visual opportunity to see and hear from people that may be experiencing leg pain and how they may be eligible for inclusion in a clinical research study.

In order to determine if they prequalify for this research study, adults will be asked some personal questions about their health and present condition. They may stop answering questions at any time and do not have to answer any questions that make them feel uncomfortable. All adults that complete the screener will be eligible to receive [Gift Card with $10 amount].

In epidemiologic studies of different populations, the prevalence of low back pain varies from 7.6 to 37 percent, while the incidence of disc herniation is approximately 5 to 20 cases per 1000 adults per year. While peak prevalence is between 45 and 60 years of age, back pain is reported by Floridians of all ages.

A non-steroidal, non-opioidal investigational study medication, already approved for use in Japan [Hernicore®], for those with sciatica or leg pain from a herniated lumbar disc is now being evaluated in a clinical research study in the United States, the Discovery 6603 Study. Approximately eight doctors across Florida (approximately 40 doctors in total across the United States) are currently enrolling people in this study.

For anyone that is interested but unable to attend our live screening event, they may be prequalified online at: http://www.thediscoverystudy.com/Discovery_WebScreener.html
